Pierre Mitchell
Pierre leads practitioner research, content, and advisory services for Spend Matters. Pierre has 30 years of procurement, supply chain, and technology experience, and is a recognized procurement expert, specializing in advanced supply processes, practices, metrics, and enabling tools and services.
Pierre was VP of Supply Management research at AMR Research (now part of Gartner Group), and the first procurement technology “industry analyst”, where he provided trusted counsel to procurement executives, business leadership, IT, and solution providers (and where he coined the term “guided buying”).
Most recently, he led procurement research at The Hackett Group, where he helped establish the gold standard in membership-based procurement research and advisory services. He has led numerous operations and systems transformations at Fortune 500 organizations, as a management consultant, and has also held industry positions:
- Manufacturing project manager at The Timberland Company,
- Materials Manager at Krupp Companies,
- Engineer at EG&G Torque Systems.
He holds an engineering undergraduate degree from Southern Methodist University, and an MBA from the University of Chicago.
