Four Supply Chain Lessons for Surviving Our ‘Brave New World’
In Kelly’s presentation, she will draw four key survival lessons from Aldous Huxley’s Brave New World book, as they affect procurement and supply chain professionals. She will explain how and why it’s crucial not to discard old ideas in favor of new ones, without careful consideration of the impact of doing so. Kelly will also walk through how shallow understanding can lead to control and manipulation.
Kelly will look at:
- Fundamental practices (lean thinking, China sourcing, etc)
- Evaluating each idea on its merits.
- Embracing chaos (stability/predictability vs instability)
- What mindset encourages innovation and resilience (allowing professionals to thrive in ever-changing environments).
Lastly, Kelly will explore the importance of solitude and independent thinking, and how it is essential for personal growth and innovation, and developing your own ideas and strategies. She will walk through how engaging with diverse perspectives, and challenging the status quo can lead to breakthroughs, and prevent complacency. By learning from these lessons, SCM professionals can navigate the complexities of modern supply chains more effectively.
